The Rooms
The Rooms is the largest public cultural space in Newfoundland and Labrador, located on the site of a military fortress in the 18th century. There are art galleries, museums and archives. Unlike other museums, here you can learn about traditional Canadian shipbuilding techniques, knowledge of bird species and military history of Canada. The Rooms is a fishing village style architecture,which integrated with nature. It is enjoyable to appreciate the incomparable scenery of the harbor city through the window. The museum has a collection of 5,500 pieces and the whole museum is built in stone and glass with three spires overlooking the horizon of St. Johns and the harbor. Come to the observation restaurant on the top floor, sip fresh cod fish sandwiches, drink mellow coffee, look at the harbor and the Atlantic Ocean through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, and quietly, time freezes ......
