Cow Head

Cow Head is the northernmost enclave community in Gros Morne National Park. There is a peninsula connected to the mainland through a narrow gravel isthmus, known as the "Head" or Summerside. In summer, residents will live in The Head. When the fishing season ends in October, they will move to Winterside. The government resettled Somerset on the original site of the existing town. Cow Head is located on a very shallow bay, which is called the Shallow Bay. The tides here are very clear, and when the tide recedes, many rocks in the bay are exposed. This is the venue of the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. Cow Head has one of the longest beaches in Newfoundland and a large area of sand dunes, where the sand is very suitable for hiking....
