Saint-Pierre et Miquelon
From the moment you set foot on the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, you know you're no longer in Canada. Little Peugeots and Renaults cruise down the road and ATMs spit out Euros. French flags flutter in the wind and suddenly everyone is speaking French. A small piece of France floats 25 kilometers from the Blin Peninsula. The islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon are not only berets, French bread and Bordeaux wine, but they are France, managed and financed by the Tricolore. Locals greet with a kiss, pay in euros, the smell of fragrant pastry stores wafts out of Lynn, and tiny one-way streets are packed with French cars. It's a very different style style from Newfoundland.
