The Dungeon is a day-trip park with boardwalks and viewing platforms around the collapsed sea caves, as well as hiking trails, picnic areas and parking lots. The nearby Cape Bonavista Provincial Historic Site is one of the most visited landmarks in Newfoundland and Labrador. It has a unique lighthouse, walking trails and an interpretive center focusing on the history and culture of the cape and its lighthouse. Cape Bonavista's Landing Municipal Park is home to a statue of John Cabot, commemorating his landing in the North Atlantic Ocean, and Dungeon's Natural Scenic Beauty Park, which contains a collapsed sea cave, a natural arch carved by the sea, is an underground city nature reserve. The most striking feature is a large heart-shaped cave in what looks like a typical grassy cliff with two different outlets overlooking the water. From the observation deck visitors can see the waves rushing in, and it is these tides that have carved this beautiful sea cave over the centuries, eventually collapsing to create a natural portal. The Underground City is a breathtaking spectacle just minutes away from the village of Bonavista and is a must hit place to visit.
