Day 3:
In the morning, you will head to Placentia to visit Castle Hill.
Located in the coastal town of Placentia, Castle Hill is a military defense site built in 1662 by French colonists to protect their fishing interests in the area. Through the weathered remnants of the fortifications, you can immerse yourself in Newfoundland's French cultural heritage. Close your eyes, and you can almost smell the lingering scent of battle from 400 years ago when the fishing grounds were like a battlefield. Interestingly, it is said that the French later avoided visiting this site. Why did this strategically located fortress, seemingly easy to defend, become a source of embarrassment for the French? The answer awaits you to uncover.

Next, you will visit Bird Island;
Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve, also known as Bird Island. It is the largest seabird nesting colony in North America. Over 70,000 birds cover the entire island and surrounding cliffs, creating a mesmerizing white spectacle. In this enchanting coastal corner, you will find thousands of Atlantic Puffins, Northern Gannets, Common Murres, Thick-billed Murres, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Razorbills, and Horned Larks. Why are Northern Gannets known as the "birds of love"? The answer will be unveiled before your eyes: you will witness the truly unique and beautiful courtship behavior of the Northern Gannets. The female and male birds face each other, spread their wings, continuously shake their heads, rub their bills together, or preen each other's feathers with their bills. Finally, they both raise their heads, point their bills to the sky, and call out incessantly, as if announcing to their companions, "We are now a couple!" The locals describe this scene as "fencing" (in French, l'escrime). The Northern Gannets have earned the honorary title of "birds of love" due to their distinctive and famous "fencing-style kisses."

Afterwards, you will return to St. John's, with a visit to Salmonier Nature Park;
Visit to Salmonier Nature Park, a wildlife park. A 3-kilometer wooden boardwalk will lead you into the wild habitat of various animals, blending with the surrounding forests and wetlands.
