2-Day Whale & Bird Watching Tour

Route Plan

Day 1: Cape Spear ->The Basilica-> Lunch on Water Street -> Signal Hill -> Brewery Tour -> Optional visit to Johnson GEO CENTRE

Day 2: La Manche Provincial Park -> Whale and Bird Watching in Bay Bulls

 

Day 1: Guests will gather at hotel at 8:00 am and head to Cape Spear for a 1.5-hour tour.;

Take a hike on the trail at the easternmost point of North America, feeling the temperature of every inch of the land with your feet. Visit Cape Spear, the easternmost point of North America, and take photos facing the vast Atlantic Ocean. Dovekies, Great Cormorants, and Thick-billed Murres often visit this area. Here, you can also see the oldest lighthouse, battery, and ammunition depot, as well as the weather-beaten ruins of the Spear Fort. Come to the easternmost point of North America, face the sea, meditate, contemplate, seek peace, and find inspiration!

 

 

Then head to The Basilica, for a 20-minute visit.

The Basilica is an old building constructed in 1855 and its design represents the revival of classical architecture in North America. Inside the church, 65 unique stained glass windows illuminate the beautiful and extraordinary Italian polychrome ceiling and gold leaf shining area. During its anniversary celebration, Pope Pius VII named it the "Basilica."

 

 

Head to Water Street for a self-guided tour and lunch on your own. You can explore the area and find a place to eat lunch, and we can recommend some great restaurants. You will have two hours of free time for lunch and sightseeing

You can explore the colorful streets of Water Street while enjoying local traditional and international cuisine. Water Street is one of the oldest streets in North America and one of the main commercial streets in St. John's. This famous street showcases the trading patterns and architectural styles of European powers such as Britain, France, and the Netherlands in the 19th century.。

 

 

Then proceed to The Basilica, for a 20-minute visit

Signal Hill is the place where the world's first transatlantic wireless signal was received. It is also an excellent location to view the city of St. John's from above. You can capture a panoramic view of St. John's from Signal Hill, with a wide vista of harbor masts, winding coastlines, and colorful houses juxtaposed against the harbor. The scenery is truly picturesque. 

 

 

Then we will proceed to the brewery and have a 20-minute tour.;

Visit the renowned Quidi Vidi Brewery, known for its unique brewing techniques and famous beer, "Iceberg." Made with pure water from a 20,000-year-old iceberg, this beer is only sold in St. John's, Newfoundland and nowhere else in the world. During your visit, you'll have the opportunity to taste and learn about authentic local beers with a rich and long-lasting flavor that lingers on your palate, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Canadian "drunken" beauty!

 

Optional visit to Johnson GEO CENTRE (admission fee CAD $12) to explore the history of the Titanic shipwreck.

Visit the Johnson GEO CENTRE, a $12 million state-of-the-art facility, to explore the Titanic disaster. The center is only 350 miles away from the area where the Titanic hit an iceberg. This visit will reveal more secrets of the Titanic that are unknown to the public, unveil the mysteries of the Titanic's cabins, and present to you the stories and mechanical details that have been sealed in the deep sea.

 

Return to the hotel and end the wonderful trip of the first day.

 

Day 2: At 9:00 am, pick up guests and drive to the Suspension Bridge Park, which is approximately an 80-minute drive, along the way enjoying the picturesque countryside of Newfoundland. Spend 2 hours exploring the park.

Visit La Manche Provincial Park, commonly known as the Suspension Bridge Park. Walk through the lush mountain trail to reach the desolate remains of La Manche, a small fishing village destroyed by a fierce tsunami in 1966. Cross the swaying suspension bridge over the strait and follow the cliff boardwalk to enjoy the magnificent bay view. The soul is unconsciously shocked, penetrating the insignificance and eternity of life. Here, sleeping souls can forget all the hardships of the world!

 

Lunch will be fast food en route and at your own expense
After lunch, we will proceed to Bay Bulls for whale and bird watching

Head to Bay Bulls, a traditional fishing village in Newfoundland, for a whale and bird watching tour on the sea. You will have a close-up view of the sea giants and witness the jumping whales and flying birds playing in the sky, chasing each other, and experiencing the harmony and beauty of nature!

 

Return to St. John's and end the enjoyable journey.
